Repair or Replace?
It’s a question we are asked on a daily basis…should you invest money in a TV that is only a couple of years old or throw in the towel and buy a new one. The answer, as with many things, is “it depends”.
Most TVs can be repaired for less than ½ the price of a new TV. Brand name products such as Samsung and LG are well built, quality TVs that can last you for years. Unfortunately there are some brands that are designed only to be the lowest price. Many of those lower quality brands are names that we recognize from years ago. Those “brand names” however, were sold to companies that don’t care about quality or how long your TV will work. The old saying “ you get what you pay for” has not changed.
If your TV has a cracked or broken screen you should consider a new TV since LCD screens cannot be repaired. Some manufacturers make replacement screens available so in some cases they can be replaced. However in almost all cases the replacement screen would be more than a new TV.
If your TV is a quality brand such as Samsung, LG or Sony, then the answer to the repair question is probably yes. Besides saving yourself some money, repair helps the environment since there is less waste that will end up in a landfill.
If you do need a replacement TV we recommend considering Samsung or LG. Alamance TV & Home Furnishings has a great selection of televisions from Samsung and LG. We have the same pricing as the “big box” stores and we have our own service department to back up your purchase. That’s something the “big box” stores don’t have.
