What is Revolution Fabric?
Revolution is a company, based out of Kings Mountain, NC, that has made their mark on the upholstery industry with their dedication to making amazing products while also staying extremely environmentally friendly. They use upcycled fibers and Olefin to make their material. Olefin is the same material used to make milk jugs which makes the fabric impenetrable for liquids. Revolution fabrics, while continuing to be soft, durable, and impressively cleanable are also chemical free. This means they can be cleaned with any house hold cleaner and will continue to protect after having been cleaned. If you need ease of cleaning but still want a lot of comfort, this would be an amazing fabric for you.
What is OptiClean?
OptiClean, as opposed to others mentioned before, is a finish on the fabric instead of it being the actual fabric. The finish will make it so if something is spilled on the fabric it will first be repelled to try to keep as much of it out as possible then, for whatever did happen to make it through, an inner property will be released into the stain to prevent it from becoming permanent. While this could be used for any upholstered furniture it would be most ideal for any furniture that might get dirty. It is an amazing back up system for any accidental spills.
What is Fortress Fabric?
Fortress fabrics is another company similar to Revolution. They are based out of High Point, NC and are also very deep rooted into being environmentally friendly in as many ways possible. To aid in being so environmentally friendly they have a “Zero Yarn Waste” policy, meaning any yarn that comes in for production will be used completely in one way or another. Along with their zero yarn waste they are very conscious about the coloring agents they are using in their products. They will use virtually no water to dye the fabrics which not only enhances the colors in the fabric but cuts down on unnecessary water usage. Even though the company is so environmentally friendly, you will not see a dip in quality. Their products are very easy to clean and are extremely durable, similar to many other performance fabrics. What makes this fabric type stand out is it’s ability to be used indoors or outdoors. Don’t be worried about the colors fading either because their fabric is UV, water and stain resistant.
What is Alta?
Alta is a US made fabric treatment that has made it’s name known in many different settings such as, healthcare offices, hotels, and even the seats at concert venues. The treatment itself is more water based, making it free of any solvents that could potentially harm you. With it being more water based, it does not lose it’s protection ability EVER. This treatment is bonded to the furniture molecularly so no matter the spill or the frequency of spills, this will last you as long as you have it. On top of it’s amazing cleanability and total liquid barrier their treatment is also completely antimicrobial and non-allergenic. This caters to many senior living spaces and health care offices because the people working at these places won’t have to be worried about someone being allergic to the treatment or how many spills they can have until it needs to be redone.
What is Valero?
Valero is most well know amongst medical offices. They make leather grain, medical grade vinyl which is completely liquid impenetrable. This material is the most ideal in medical offices because of its impeccable fluid barrier but also because it (when cleaned properly) reduces the possibility of infections and germs to spread to other things and people. When working in the medical field you can only imagine the importance of material like this. It’s also a very sought after material when searching for lift chairs or for anyone struggling with incontinence mainly because of the liquid barrier and the ease of cleaning.
